History & Significance of Amarnath

The lifetime dream of every Shaivitc is to visit the most sacred plan Shri Amarnath Ji. Amaranth Yatra has special importance as it is believed that Lord Shiva unfolded the secrets of immortally and the story of the creation of the universe to its consort goddess Parvati in the cave.

According to the Puranic stories, the inquisition Goddess Parvati asked his Lord the reason why he is beauty the beads of heads (Mund Mala) all the time. Master replied that every time she gets another birth he adds one more Munda to his garland. Then Ma Parvati raises another question of why it happens that master you are immortal since times immemorial while I die and have rebirth. Lord Shiva answered on the persistent demand if his consort that this all happens on account of Amar Katha.

Ma Parvati asked the master to tell her Amar Katha and Lord could not deny to tell her the story. He had a promise from her that he would unfold it in a desolate place so that none can overhear it. Finally narrated her the story in the cave of Amarnath Ji.

Dates of Shri Amaranth Ji Yatra 2022

This year Shri Amaranth Ji Yatra will tentatively commence from Date 30^th June to 11 of August 2022. Thus in case, the coronavirus pandemic is overcome soon, we are hopeful for a safe Amarnath Yatra 2022 with the daunting courage of the Indian Army, Indian Government, and the local administration.

Registration Dates and Process

The registration of this yatra will begin from date 11th April 2022. You can download the application from the website www.shriamarnathjishrine.com attached with CHC (Complete Health Checkup) form. After filling this form manually you have to go for the Health checkup to your nearest Doctors (Listed on the website of www.shriamarnathjishrine.com after getting the health certificate you can go to the nearest branch of Jammu & Kashmir bank or Yes bank for with the application form. You also need to carry Valid photo ids and 4 passport size photos for this registration process.

Bank Providing Dates for Amarnath Yatra

The bank is authorized to give you the particular dates to perform Shri Amaranth Ji yatra and according to the process you have to reach the base camps one day prior to your Yatra dates. These rules are strictly followed by the official’s people who can not perform Yatra without the valid date not even before and not after the Yatra date.

Location of Amarnath Cave

Amarnath peak is a part of the lofty Himalayas at an altitude of 5185 meters. It falls in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir Valley and is close to the son marg. It lies nearly 120 km from Srinagar this 45 km away from Pahalgam.

What is the Best Time to Visit Amarnath?

Normally by the end of June Amarnath cave is open to visitors. Thus May is not a good time but you can choose June as the best time. Usually, the tentative yatra dates start from the end of June and end by the first week of August.

What are the Routes of Amarnath Yatra?

There are 2 routes of Amarnath Yatra one starts from Baltal and goes straight to the holy shrine. The other route is from Chandanwari which is nearly 30 km. The people who desire to visit Amarnath cave by using the Baltal route find the base camp at Baltal while the other who intend to go using the second route find the base camp at Candanwari is only 16 km.

As it is believed that Lord Shiva used the Chandanwari route to reach the cave, most of the pilgrims prefer to use the Chandanwari route. By using this track you can accomplish this Yatra in at least 3 days. Those people who have time crunch can use the Baltal route as it takes less time. By using this track you can complete yatra in 2 days.

What are the Important points in Amarnath Yatra?

Proceed to start yatra from Chandanwari, after a little bit of walk the first point you will reach is Pishu Ghati. This is the place where it is believed demons were killed by the hands of Gods. Moving further up, at a height of 12000 feet, is Seshanag Lake from where Seshanag River flows. This is the first point where people take the first night halt after completing a 14 km track. The barriers will be closed in the afternoon and no one is allowed to cross the barriers after 2 or 3 pm. Sometimes they close the barrier early as well according to the bad weather conditions.

The shrine will arrange camps for the stay of pilgrims after paying the normal fees of Rs. 300 per person. The maximum people allowed in one camp are 10 people. You will also find so many free Langars arranged by devotees and social workers from all over India. Here you will get a lifetime experience to enjoy the delicacies of different cuisines of various states of India.

After taking rest this Yatra will commence from Sheshnaag to Mahagunus Paas or (Mahagunas top), situated on the 14000 feet from the sea level which slopes down leading to Panchatarni which is the second stop of the yatra. If you reach here before the afternoon, you will get a chance to reach directly up to the holy cave. Otherwise, you have to take another night’s rest at Panchtarni. Here you will also find so many camps and langars to get your stay and food.

Third-Day reaching the Holy Cave

On the third day, you can start your trek early morning and reach up to the holy cave which is just 6 km from Panchtarni. Upon reaching the holy cave pilgrims are supposed to have a holy bath before darshan of the holy cave and adoration of Baba Barfani.

Most of the people are unaware of the fact that the similar kind of statues of snow likes Shri Amarnathji are also formed of Goddes Parvati and Lord Ganesha son of Lord shiva. After paying a visit the holy cave pilgrims start their return journey to reach Baltal base camp which is 14 km from the holy cave.

This whole yatra is having unexplained views and sceneries of nature. You can find the Glaciers, waterfalls, Milky water rivers, big mountains, and so many things. The entire scenic aspects give mesmerizing effects and would enthrall your heart up to the core. Things to carry during the yatra

The most important thing to carry during yatra is your short bag equipped with Raincoat, Torch, Extra socks and useful clothes, winter caps, need full medicines, water bottle, toffies, candies, and roasted chana to avoid dry mouth situation. Sticks as you have to go through a glacier so the stick is very important to find out the correct path.

Pony ride, Mules, and helicopter services are also available from Pahalgam to Panchtarni. Most of the people do trekking on this yatra. You will also handover your bags as the porter’s services are also available there.

During the rainy weather, there is a major problem. The tracks are totally wet and the chances of slipping, land sliding will increase due to rain. Less oxygen is another problem as the people are not habitual to climb up to 14000 feet high mountains. Minus degree weather is also a problem. Don’t take any shortcuts during the whole yatra.
