Salawat Khan Tomb

Salawat Khan Tomb History and Architecture

This tomb is located on Delhi Agra highway, very closed to the Inter Bus terminal. This stand is on the Gailana road leading to Asopa Hospital. It is also at a walking distance from the Guru Ka Tal Gurudwara and has close proximity to Akabar’s tomb. This tomb is dedicated to Salabat Khan who was the brother in law of Shahjahan and the most favorite and confident to Shahjahan. He was holding the responsibilities of the royal treasury. This tomb is also called as Chausath Khamba(64 Pillared Pavallion).

This less known place of mughal times is much neglected and on account of less advertisement it is frequented by few tourists only. The tomb remains closed but you can visit it from outside. This tomb is totally built out of local red sand stone. Close to this tomb lies the tomb of his father Sadiq Khan. This tomb was built in 1644 to 1660 A.D.

This tomb is built on elevated platform. This plinth is 5 feet high and can be accessed by the steps on all sides. It is similar to 64 Khamba of Delhi.
